BigBlueButton Hackfest December 7-9th 2012

Got an idea to build something using BigBlueButton? Try coding it over a weekend with help from the BigBlueButton core developers!

We’re holding a BigBlueButton HackFest this December 7-9th in Ottawa, Ontario.

BigBlueButton is evolving from an open source web conferencing system to an open source web conferencing platform.  In the upcoming release of BigBlueButton 0.81, we want to make it easier for others to use the components of BigBlueButton as building blocks.  During the HackFest you’ll have access to the latest build of 0.81-dev, which gives you control over the following:

  • Layout and visibility of all components
  • Specifying the layout for each user
  • Ability to embed BigBlueButton into a web page  inside a DIV tag
  • Ability to control BigBlueButton via JavaScript API (join audio, start sharing webcam, mute/unmute, etc.)
We welcome others around the world to remotely participate.  Don’t worry if your not a developer, if you have graphic design skills, technical writing skills, or user interface design skills, there will definitely be some teams you can join.  We’ll have a BigBlueButton server setup for teams to collaborate.
